Welcome to Xu-Fu's Pet Guides!

A long maintenance just concluded that was necessary to move the page from an old to a newer database connection. This change was required by Blizzard. If you want to know all the details, you can read the full announcement.

So what has changed? Not much, sadly. Xu-Fu is a bit more future proof and things won't break suddenly, but there are no new features now. Things might load a little bit faster now and all new pets can be imported into you collection (like the 령 지룡), but that's it for now.

If you notice any errors or things not working anymore, please reach out to Aranesh!
Just when we thought Blizzard was done adding new pets to the PTR, the latest build has brought a new surprise: meet the Shadowbarb Hatchling!

This pet is a reward as part of a quest chain, combined with hatching it through a progression of daily quests, which we'll go into a little more below. So, let's get started on where you can go to begin hatching your very own bug!

Head just south of the second 'R' in Ankhaten Harbor, coords: 20.81, 62.03

This may not be the only place to find an egg, but it's where I found mine. *thumbs up*

Once you get there, you'll see this:

Click on the egg to get the quest pop-up.

Now, head over to Ramkahen, and meet up with H'partho Ardoros.

He'll then place the egg on the pedestal to his right. The egg will now have a bar above it that says 'Hatching...' and when moused over it displays an 'xp' bar. The bar is currently set to 5,000, though we'll have to see if there are progressive bars after, like with the Bee Mount.

Once you turn in The Incredible Egg, H'partho will offer you the quest, 'Match the Hatch'.

This will send you over to two possible areas: Temple of Uldum & Northwest of the Obelisk of the Moon.

Once there, you need to find 7 of these eggs:

The eggs will hatch while you study them, spawning three little bugs. Might have been my gear, but the poison they put on you can do decent damage stacked with their hits. They're not terribly difficult to kill; just watch your HP.

Once you get 7, head back to H'partho.

After that, his chat box will display this:

You'll end this first day with 600 / 5,000 on the hatching. If each daily gives 300, you're looking at about 15 days for what might be this first bar.

Day Two: The Hunger

Day 2 with H'parthos offers the quest 'Void Incubation'.

Now, what they mean by areas under assault by N'Zoth seem be where the tentacle-inclined are hanging out, not just where the purple rings on the map are showing up. Just look between Uldum and the Vale, and check for your lovely, opaque blue questing area indicator. For me, I got the Vale:

The Crystallized Void will be little gems on the ground, and look like this:

And I found them around the base of these structures:

If you haven't completed your assault for the day, don't be fooled by the millions of other glowing things hanging about, especially the tomes, which are about the same size.

After you get 10 Crystallized Void, head back to H'parthos.

He tells you not to worry about any side effects from carrying the crystallized void around, but if you, or someone you know, has suffered void crystal-related illness or injury, you may be entitled to compensation. Contact your local Titan facility for more details.

Day 2 ends with 900/5,000 on the Hatching.

Day Three: Under Wraps

On day, 3, H'parthos tells you your egg needs a nice, sticky blanket.

This quest will send you to 5 potential locations around Uldum:

Your quest items will drop from three different enemies: Aqir Voidcasters, Corrupt Egg Tenders, & Aqir Dominators (Elite)

Out of the five areas, I preferred the Obelisk of the Sun. The Voidcasters are around the edges of the plateau, near the egg clusters, and there's less mob aggro from non-quest enemies (in my experience).

Once you find some of these enemies, kill them for their Aqir Webbing:

Then head back over to H'partho:

Once you complete the quest, your egg will change to look like this:

Now your egg is snug as a bug in an...egg.

What was different about today was the jump in the Hatching number--it's either at 1300/5000 or 1800/5000. It's hard to tell, because the line is going right through the number. Either way, it's a jump from the 300 xp earned from previous days.

Day Four: In the Cold, Cold Night

On Day 4, H'partho says the cold, desert nights might be too much for our little egg, and instructs you to find something to help it stay warm.

Once you accept, head over to the Obelisk of the Stars:

Once you get there, you'll head down into the chamber.

Once inside, turn around, and you'll see these three cat-a-taurs around your quest item:

You'll want to kill them one at a time. They do a damage-stacking ability that would probably be quite painful with all three of them adding it at the same time.

Once they're dead, loot the spiky disc:

Head back over to H'partho, and turn in the quest.

At this point, your egg is getting blinged out!

You'll end the day at 2700/5000 on the Hatching bar, which means we are not looking at 15 days for this bar, as it seems to be adding 900 the last couple of days. This could mean the chain is either going to be very short, or we have more bars.

Day Five & Six: Here We Go Again

Day five gives us our first daily, instead of outright quest:

It was probably just a bug, but the zones didn't display the quest objective area for me. As such, you're looking for the zone that's specifically being Assaulted by N'zoth, not the Aqir, or the Mantids, or any of the secondary forces. Another way to tell, at least on the PTR, is the sky will be purple during N'Zoth assaults, but not from the other forces.

That said, it'll be the same as Day 2. You'll find the Crystallized Void around the bottom of the N'zoth structures that have erupted from the ground, as shown above in the day two part of the article.

Head back to H'partho for your turn-in:

Day 5 ends with your Hatching at 3,000 / 5,000. We're getting close!

Day 6 ends with your Hatching at 3300 / 5000

Day Seven: Danger Zone

On Day Seven we get another unique quest to soup up your egg! I'm not sure if the quests and their order are connected to where the N'zoth forces are assualting, but today it switched from Pandaria to Uldum, and we got a new quest to head to Pandaria. Once more people do the chain, we'll know for sure.

As I said, H'partho is sending us over to the Vale:

He wants us to grab an Amber Incubator to help speed up the Hatching process. The closest FP in the Vale to the quest objective is going to be the Serpent's Spine in the South-West:

Once you get there, the Amber Incubator will be inside the wall/fort area, in the corner:

Once you click on it, H'partho airlifts it out:

Head back over to Ramkahen to turn in the quest:

Now your egg will look like this:

We also see another big jump in the Hatching, with day 7 ending at 4200 / 5000!

As I go back to do the daily each day, I'll update this article with new information.

However, it doesn't look like we're done there! As Quintessence, Sr. Content Manager for Warcraft Pets pointed out;

"...there's a mount with a similar name, [I'm] guessing it's going to be similar to the falcosaur quest chain (get a pet + raise it = get a mount)."

And here's the mount, the Shadowbarb Drone

I'm loving the matching looks for the pet & mount, and as said above, we'll update here as more information becomes available.

Well, that's all for now, so until next time: Happy Battling!
The 2019 Blizzard charity pet, Dottie, is now available for purchase!

We first got to see Dottie at Blizzcon, where the Game Director for Blizzard, Ion Hazzikistas, announced that she would be our 2019 charity pet!

100% of the proceeds will be going to two different charities this year: the Make-A-Wish Foundation and WE.org. The links will send you to the charity pages, if you're interested in seeing what your donations will be going toward.

On top of being ridiculously cute, Dottie also features a unique 'bounce around' idle animation.

Dottie is available for purchase for $10 / €10

Happy Holidays!
The Darkmoon Faire is here again!

This particular Darkmoon Faire brings with it the special opportunity for reputation gains.

Sunday: 15th Anniversary Buff (15%) + Pilgrim's Bounty Spirit of Sharing (10%) + Darkmoon Faire Whee! (10%) = 35%

Monday - Saturday: 15th Anniversary Buff (15%) + Darkmoon Faire Whee! (10%) = 25%

So, if you have anything to turn in today, or have some old reputations to grind through dungeons, today would be the day!

As far as pets go, here's our main article on how to get all the Darkmoon Faire pets.

Best of luck in all your Faire endeavors, and until next time: Happy Battling!
Earlier, there was a blue post on the Visions of N'Zoth & Pet Battle forums regarding some changes we'll be seeing in 8.3 and beyond. The EU link can be found here.

From Kaivax:

Hello pet battlers!

We’ve seen some discussion around pet battle changes coming in Visions of N’Zoth, and we’d like to discuss those, as well as changes we currently have planned for a future content update.

The Weather Outside is Fight-ful

Weather effects have always been intended to slightly change the rules of pet battles. Sandstorm is great against pets that do weaker attacks, Sunlight is great for healing abilities, and Cleansing Rain is great for aquatic abilities. However, Mudslide and Blizzard both fell by the wayside in terms of being impactful or rule-changing outcomes. So in Visions of N’Zoth, both of these weather effects are being updated with new added effects in addition to their existing effects:

  • Blizzard

Now also increases all elemental ability damage by 25%.

  • Mudslide

Now also increases all critical damage dealt by 25%.

To be really clear about the Mudslide change: Critical strikes usually hit for 150% of normal damage. Mudslide will now increase that to 175% of normal damage.

We’ve also been thinking for a while that we should add a new weather type to the game, so Visions of N’Zoth will also introduce a new weather type: Toxic Fumes. This deals Dragonkin damage to the current enemy pet and applies the Toxic Fumes weather effect.

  • Toxic Fumes

Increases the duration of all hostile damage over time effects by 1 round.

All pets are considered Poisoned while Toxic Fumes is active.

Max No More

In Visions of N’Zoth, all of the new outdoor pet battle World Quests in Uldum and Vale of Eternal Blossoms will scale their level to match the highest level pet currently slotted on your team, instead of always being a level 25 enemy pet. This will also be the case for Nazjatar and Mechagon – all of the pet battle World Quests there are being updated. You can check them all out with a team of three level 1 pets!

Stat Changes

In Visions of N’Zoth, we’re also changing how percent-damage reduction abilities stack with each other. Currently, if you’re fighting a pet like Unit 17 in Mechagon (a Boss pet that passively takes 50% less damage), and Unit 17 uses Crouch, Unit 17 becomes immune to damage because the two 50% damage reduction effects are added to each other. In Visions of N’Zoth, the plan is to cap damage reduction at -75%. Using Unit 17 as an example, while Crouch is active, it will take 75% reduced damage instead of 100% reduced damage. This will smooth out the challenge with some enemy bosses.

Please note that abilities like Dodge or Deflection will continue to avoid all damage. Those will not be impacted by this change.

What the Future Holds

In a future update, we’re targeting a number of balance changes we want to make, which will amount to lowering the effectiveness of some pets and strategies. Again, these changes will not be happening in Visions of N’Zoth, but we wanted to give you ample warning time that changes are coming. While we don’t have specific numbers or details to share right now, here are some examples of abilities that we’re going to take a close look at:

  • Black Claw and similar abilities that increase damage taken by a flat amount.
  • Hunting Party and similar abilities such as Flock.
  • The Shattered Defenses debuff effect from abilities such as Hunting Party or Flock.
  • Any large percent-damage-taken or percent-damage-dealt buffs or debuffs.
  • Twilight Meteorite and similar long-cooldown damage-splitting abilities.
  • The Jar of Smelly Liquid ability.
  • Hermit Crab

Of course that last one isn’t an ability, but Hermit Crab incorrectly has a higher stat budget than it should, and it will have its stats reduced to bring it in line with other similar pets.

A goal we have when making many new pet battle World Quests or encounters is to create puzzles that players can counter and “solve”-- ideally with the option to use a variety of pets and tools to do so. When a few pets have such strong synergies that they can deal massive damage in just a few rounds and almost trivially beat these enemies, it becomes problematic. Do we make new challenges only beatable by the highest damage combos, or do we make them generally solveable and therefore immediately smashed by massive damage?

We don’t want to ruin the feel of combination abilities, so we aren’t going to make Black Claw no longer interact with Hunting Party or Flock, but we want to make sure these abilities are dealing appropriate damage. And we want to make sure that secondary effects such as Shattered Defenses are being accounted for with regards to balance.

When we have further specifics, we will be sure to let you know.

In addition to the post above, Kaivax also responded to concerns regarding old content, and the potential ability nerfs:

19 November 19: We’ll do our best to make sure older Achievements are still able to be completed after the changes, even if that means we need to change some of the Tanaan Jungle, Argus, and Battle for Azeroth pet battle challenges to make them somewhat easier.

I think it’s also worth noting that the sample future changes I listed in the OP were the most-impactful examples we’ve thought of. I’m sure we’ll also take this opportunity to find pets/abilities/combos that we can buff at the same time.

What say you, pet community? Do you think this will be an overall good change for pet battles, or will it be more harmful than helpful?
I just updated the Pet Collection Viewer because Blizzard made changes to their armory connection that I and many other pages are using. There will be many more updates necessary to keep everything in working condition and ideally you should not notice any changes, perhaps even an improvement here or there :-)

This initial change has a few effects:
  • Character names with special characters in them like á, ê or the like are working again
  • Russian, Korean and Chinese collections can be imported as well now, yay!
  • On a downside, you can't export your collection to Excel from your user profile right now. Sorry! Working on it! Use the collection viewer instead for now please.

That's it! If anything isn't working, give Aranesh a poke :-)
Happy Birthday, World of Warcraft!

This year, WoW celebrates its 15th anniversary with an event that runs from:

  • November 5, 2019 – January 7, 2020 (The Americas)
  • November 6, 2019 – January 8, 2020 (Europe)
  • November 7, 2019 – January 9, 2020 (Asia)

There are a fair few goodies on the horizon for us, including three new mounts: Obsidian Warbreaker, Frostwolf Snarler, and the Stormpike Battle Ram.

The Obsidian Warbreaker's model was inspired by Deathwing, and will require completing special raids, collectively known as: Memories of Azeroth.

Chromie has separated the strands of time, allowing you to go back and relive epic raid encounters from Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm. Each of these limited-time raids will feature three iconic bosses, and they’ll be available as their own wings through the Raid Finder.

To enter the raid, you need a minimum item level of 380. Players who complete all three wings will receive the achievement Memories of Fel, Frost and Fire which grants the Obsidian Worldbreaker.... - Blizzard News

The Stormpike Battle Ram & Frostwolf Snarler are lovely remodels of the previous mounts earned from the Alterac Valley battleground:

These mounts will be earned from the Alterac Valley of Olde battleground, and will require earning 200 Timewarped Badges from doing quests, and participating in said battleground.

And what is an anniversary event without an adorable new pet?

We talked about Lil' Nefarion in a previous post here, and from the Blizzard News site we know this pet will be part of the login anniversary gift:

Get ready to celebrate 15 years of World of Warcraft in style! Everyone who logs in during the event period will receive an Anniversary Gift in the mail, which includes a Lil’ Nefarian battle pet, a Celebration Package that increases experience and reputation gains throughout the event, a reusable firework that can be used for the duration of the event, an item that teleports you to the Caverns of Time (usable only during the event), and other in-game goodies.

So, even if you're not logging in regularly, don't forget to do so before your region's respective end dates, because after that this pet, (and the mounts), will be unobtainable.

There are also a handful of items being sold in the Caverns of Time, some of which are from previous anniversaries:

Historian Ma'di

  • Exquisite Costume Set: "Edwin VanCleef" -- WoW's 11th Anniversary
  • Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses -- WoW's 13th Anniversary
  • Inflatable Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker -- WoW's 11th Anniversary (Yes, we said it)
  • Overtuned Corgi Goggles -- WoW's 14th Anniversary
  • Corgi Pup -- This pet first appeared during the 12th Anniversary event, and is only purchasable during a WoW Anniversary
  • Tranquil Mechanical Yeti Costume -- Only purchasable during a WoW Anniversary
  • Celebration Wand Gnoll & Murloc -- WoW's 11th Anniversary
  • Celebration Wand Quilboar & Trogg -- WoW's 13th Anniversary

Persnip Goodup

  • Blue Anniversary Balloons
  • Red Anniversary Balloons
  • Sharpened Pin

Waiter <Food & Drink>

  • Sugary Soul Shard -- Turns you into a purple, spectral version of your character, and changes the sky for 5 minutes
  • Ookerdooker Elixir -- Turns you into a skeletal monkey for 10 minutes
  • Spellstone Delight -- Increases movement speed by 100% for 30 seconds

Leeroy Jenkins

  • Leeroy's Spicy Fried Chicken

Once again, we wish WoW a very happy birthday, and hope for many more in the coming years!

Happy Battling, everyone!

Quotes about the anniversary, and images of the Obsidian Warbreaker & Lil' Nefarion, obtained from Blizzard News here.
Another Blizzcon has come and gone, and a great many exciting announcements have been made. For the pet community, this included two new pets: the Anima Wyrmling & Dottie!

Anima Wyrmling

The Anima Wyrmling is the pet players will receive as part of the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands pre-order in the 'Epic Edition', or the highest tier of pre-order.

Family: Dragonkin
Health: 1424
Speed: 273
Power: 301

  • Slot 1: Siphon Life / Gale Slash
  • Slot 2: Amplify Magic / Arcane Storm
  • Slot 3: Portal / Phase Shift

Dottie the baby alpaca will be this year's charity pet, and her sales will contribute to two charities: Make-A-Wish Foundation & WE.org

Though we don't know any of Dottie's particulars, like her abilities or family (Probably Critter, maybe Beast), we do know from Jeremy Feasel, a.k.a. Muffinus, that she has an adorable animation where she bounces in a circle.

Hopefully they'll continue the pet & plushie trend, that way we can add an adorable alpaca in-game and IRL.

On top of that, we got a glimpse into some of the Shadowlands zones and Covenants, and there are exciting new models that could translate very well into pets for us in the next expansion. Only time will tell, but I'm looking forward to what Shadowlands will bring to us pet-wise.

Well, that's all for now! We hope you all had a great Blizzcon, either in Anaheim or from the comfort of your home, and until next time: Happy Battling!

Image of Dottie pulled from Wowhead here.
The scent of marigold hangs heavy in the cool air, while laughter, music, and weeping intermingle amidst the headstones. You place the sturdy, white candle on top of the newly carved gravestone in front of you, then light the wick. The flame stutters to life, and then stills, unwavering. The aroma of freshly baked bread makes your mouth water, as you pull the skull-shaped loaf from your pack, and then place it gingerly next to the candle.

Now you wait.

It’s not long before a familiar, whispering voice surrounds you, and the lightest brush on your shoulder sends goosebumps along your skin. The candle flickers in a breeze that’s not there, and when you look up you’re greeted by a smiling face. You can’t help the sting of tears in your eyes, but you give them a smile in return.

“Hello, friend.”

Happy Day of the Dead!

The veil has thinned, and it’s that time of year to visit your city’s graveyard to honor and celebrate those who have departed the world of the living. On Azeroth, Day of the Dead is a micro holiday that comes at the tail end of Hallow’s End, and offers us one pretty cool pet: Macabre Marionette.

Armed with his maracas, sombrero*, and killer dance moves, this skeletal puppet is said to be animated by the spirits of our dearly departed.

One of the reasons this pet is fantastic to add to your collection, is because it has humanoid attacks, which are strong against dragonkin pets. With the pet being undead, it takes reduced damage from dragonkin attacks. Combine your Macabre Maraca with Shattered Defenses from Dead Man’s Party, and dragonkin enemies stand little chance of survival.

There is a quest chain to get this pet, which is only available during the Day of the Dead holiday, and it can be done once per character. This pet is also cageable, so if you’re not interested in doing the quest, pop on over to your local auction house!

How to Get Your Macabre Marionette

1 – Log in during the Day of the Dead event Nov. 1 & 2. The calendar indicates that the event runs until server reset on the 3rd, but we advise doing it on the 1st or 2nd in case anything goes sideways with the reset.

2 – Head to your race’s capital city:

  • Orgrimmar: Orc, Troll, Goblin
  • Stormwind: Human
  • Exodar: Draenei
  • Silvermoon: Blood Elf
  • Ironforge: Dwarf, Gnome
  • Thunder Bluff: Tauren
  • Darnassus (Phased): Night Elf, Worgen
  • Undercity (Phased): Undead
  • Dalaran (Northrend), Dalaran (Legion), Shattrath: Pandaren / Allied Races / Any Race or Faction

I can’t verify where all the allied races would go, but from what I’ve seen in the comments it looks like the Nightborne can go to the Silvermoon City graveyard. However, either of the Dalarans or Shattrath consider the allied races as part of their ‘any race’. If you’ve done this chain on an allied race outside of the Dalaran(s)/Shattrath graveyards, let me know which one you went to, and I’ll update the article!

3 – Purchase at least one of each: Simple Flour (Cooking Supply Vendor) & Ice Cold Milk (Beverage Vendors or Innkeepers). Also while in the capital, if you haven’t learned the cooking skill yet you’ll need at least a skill of 1 for the Bread of the Dead recipe, so train that before you leave!

4 – Head to the graveyard of your city

  • Dalaran (Northrend / Legion): The grassy area between the Violet Citadel and the Magus Commerce Exchange, near an entrance to the Underbelly.
  • Shattrath: Located in Terokkar Forest, directly between Shattrath City and the house beneath the words Cenarion Thicket on the map.
  • Orgrimmar: Go out the front gates of Orgrimmar, and take the second, short ‘road’ on the left. The graveyard is near a small pond.
  • Undercity: In the Ruins of Lordaeron above Undercity. It’ll be in the same area as the Hallow’s End NPCs.
  • Thunder Bluff: Northern side of the middle rise, in an area just below the elevators.
  • Silvermoon City: Head out of Silvermoon City to the flight master, and fly over to Falconwing Square. Head south out of the entrance to Falconwing Square and it should be just to the left of the entrance. Or, you can just head out of Silvermoon and ride toward Falconwing past the Dead Scar. The graveyard is just before you get to Falconwing Square.
  • Stormwind: Head out the gates of Stormwind and follow the road toward Goldshire, and the cemetery will be on the right, north of the pond before you get to Goldshire.
  • Ironforge: Go out the gates of Ironforge, and cut directly left. The graveyard is at the end of a small path that hugs the side of the mountain.
  • Darnassus: If you look at your map of Darnassus in mini mode, the graveyard will be located directly between the two Rs in Warrior’s and the two Rs in Terrace, (Warrior’s Terrace). If your map is in its large form, it sits between the RI in Warrior’s, and the RA in Terrace.
  • Exodar: Head out to Azure’s Watch on the Azuremyst Isle, and the graveyard is south of Azure’s Watch, right near the sign post.

5 – Use the emote /dance with the NPC Catrina for a super easy achievement. Purchase the Bread of the Dead recipe from Chapman, the male vendor near Catrina, as well as either an Orange Marigold, or a Bouquet of Orange Marigolds. The recipe requires a cooking skill of 1.

6 – Learn the recipe and cook the Bread of the Dead.

7 – Use your Orange Marigold or Bouquet of Orange Marigolds in the graveyard. Remember! The buff to see the dead from the Marigold items only lasts 30 seconds, so be prepared to accept the quest and turn it in quickly!

8 – You should now be able to see a ghost, Cheerful (insert city name here) Spirit, that offers the quest The Grateful Dead.

9 – Accept the quest and turn it in immediately. You’ve already made your bread, so you should be good to go!

10 – Congratulations! You now have your Macabre Marionette!

We wish you all a Feliz Día de los Muertos, and until next time: Happy Battling!

* Unfortunately, the Macabre Marionette's sombrero has been clipping through his skull for quite sometime. Hopefully Blizzard will get around to fixing it some day!
With the Master away, Moroes will play, but who has he invited to Karazhan this time?

Super, the owner of the Secret Finder's discord, released this announcement earlier in regards to Jenafur:

"Hey everyone,

The following clarifications surrounding the Jenafur secret have been confirmed to the staff team:

- The secret is working as intended, is solvable and does not require a group (confirmed for the current step).

- The first step was to talk to Amara. The second step was the CCL's house. The third step is Kara. It is unknown if going from step 1 -> 3 was a bug, or if it was just designed to find CCL (Crazy Cat Lady, Elwynn Forest) first. CCL does not have anything to do with the solution to the current step.

- The intended solution to go from CCL to Kara was the direction of the 2 kibbles when connected with a line.

I would like to remind people that the staff team do not have any extra inside knowledge and will only post confirmed information from verified sources. While we discourage hints, if one is shared/confirmed with the team then we will post here.

We are happy to take any questions, but the answers will be solely opinions; everything we know is stated above."

So, players, it looks like it's back to Karazhan for the intrepid Secret Finder Detectives.

Will you help puzzle out the mystery surrounding the food found throughout the dungeon? Or will Jenafur continue to elude us all?

Tables groan beneath the weight of a variety of dishes, and boisterous conversation fills the air over many a tankard of drink. Stories of glory and thanks are traded like precious gold, as friends new and old take their seats. Every cook and kitchen within the capital cities tirelessly churn out platter upon platter of food, as the citizens of Azeroth make the pilgrimage from far and wide to celebrate the week of Pilgrim’s Bounty.

Just as you lean forward to take the first bite of your favorite dish, something warm lands on your head. As the conversation at your table quiets, a substance that looks suspiciously like candied sweet potatoes runs down and lands on your plate. When you look up at the person across from you, you’re met with mischievous eyes and a barely suppressed grin. You bare your teeth in return, and then grab a handful of cranberry chutney as you utter a cry of; “Food fight!”

It’s Pilgrim’s Bounty week on Azeroth, and it’s, ‘…a time to reflect upon one’s good fortune and share with all around you’. It’s one of the major holidays celebrated in-game, and it runs for just under seven full days.

2019: 11/25 10:00 a.m. – 12/02 09:00 a.m.

It is also a required holiday for the meta achievement: What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been.

As for pets, Pilgrim’s Bounty offers two: Bush Chicken & Plump Turkey. Below, we’ll detail how you can get these two holiday pets, and add these delicious—I mean adorable!—pets to your roster.

Bush Chicken

"Following their introduction to the mainland by the goblins, Bush Chickens have become the entre du jour for Pilgrim's Bounty due to their high deliciousness and low intelligence.

The Bush Chicken is the easiest to get of the two. This pet is cageable, so one of the ways is to purchase one off the Auction House.

The other way is to complete the dailies for Pilgrim’s Bounty:

  • Can’t Get Enough Turkey
  • Easy as Pie
  • She Says Potato
  • Don’t Forget the Stuffing!
  • We’re Out of Cranberry Chutney Again?

Each daily will require 20 of each food item.

These dailies reward an item called Pilgrim’s Bounty, and it’ll be filled with seasonal fare for the holiday. Among these items is the Frightened Bush Chicken, which will, of course, teach you the pet. Wowhead reports there’s about a 3% chance for the pet to drop.

If you’re looking to complete everything for the holiday, your best bet is to do the dailies every day, and if you don’t manage to get the drop you can purchase the pet off the AH. By the end of the holiday, the market has usually flooded with the holiday pets, so the prices should see a nice drop at that point.

Plump Turkey

He's humble, clairvoyant, and delicious with cranberry sauce.

The Plump Turkey is the more time-consuming of the two, since it’s one of the rewards for the meta achievement for the holiday: Pilgrim.

This pet is not tradeable, and is unique, therefore you can only learn one.

There are 9 sub-achievements for the meta achievement, and we’ll tell you how you can complete each one. It may seem a touch daunting, but most of them are fairly easy, so never fear!

Sharing is Caring, “FOOD FIGHT!”, & Pilgrim’s Paunch

These achievements are generally the easiest of the lot, and you can complete them as you make the rounds to all the capital cities doing your cooking dailies & quests. For Horde, this means starting in Undercity, and for Alliance it’ll be Stormwind.

However, none of the dailies send you out to the 4th capital needed by each faction: Silvermoon City & The Exodar. So, once you complete your cooking dailies & quests, head out to these capitals to finish Pilgrim’s Paunch.

Sharing is Caring & “FOOD FIGHT!” can be completed at about the same time, as long as there’s another player at the table with you. When you sit down, you’ll get a special interface bar, like when you’re in a vehicle, and it’ll give you the option to eat or share. If other food has been passed to that chair, it’ll be an option to eat that food, too.

For Sharing is Caring, all you have to do is share each dish (5) found at the table with another chair, doesn’t matter which one. Simple as that. If you’re looking to get the “FOOD FIGHT!” achievement, target a player/chair, and share the food until you get the achievement. It’s that simple! However, a player does need to be in the chair.

For Pilgrim’s Paunch, you need to eat 5 stacks of food from each chair to gain the Spirit of Sharing buff, and do this at all four of your faction's listed capitals.

If there aren’t any people around, I tend to pass all the food to one chair, and sit at that one to make getting your Spirit of Sharing quest a little easier. If there are people around, your best bet is to just sit at each chair individually.

Now We’re Cookin’ & Pilgrim’s Progress

These achievements require you to have a cooking skill of at least 280 in your Old World Recipes section to cook ALL the recipes, but fear not! This holiday is generally used by people to level their alts’ cooking skills, because each recipe you’re given will have enough points to get you to the next one.

There will be some traveling required to purchase ingredients, but the quest chain will lead you to each subsequent city. For the non-daily quests, make sure you have the quest before you cook the items. The dailies don’t have the cooking as part of the quest completion, but the non-dailies do.

Your dailies were mentioned in the Bush Chicken section above. The non-daily quests will send you to each capital city, in the order of the recipes that will progress you through your cooking skill. For Horde, you’ll start off in the Ruins of Lordaeron (Phased), and for Alliance it’ll be outside the gates of Stormwind.

Once you’ve picked up your cooking skill, or if you already have it, you’ll need to at least learn the Spice Bread recipe from the cooking trainer. After that, find a Pilgrim’s Bounty vendor, generally located near the Pilgrim’s Bounty tables outside the capital cities, and purchase a Bountiful Cookbook for 1 silver. This cookbook will contain all the recipes you need for this holiday:

  • Spice Bread Stuffing – Cooking Skill 1
  • Pumpkin Pie – Cooking Skill 100
  • Cranberry Chutney – Cooking Skill 160
  • Candied Sweet Potatoes – Cooking Skill 220
  • Slow-Roasted Turkey – Cooking Skill 280

Part One

For Spice Bread Stuffing, you’ll need the Spice Bread recipe and Autumnal Herbs. The herbs can be purchased from the Pilgrim’s Bounty Vendor.

Once you’ve learned this recipe, be sure to pick up the Spice Bread Stuffing quest. For Horde, this will come from Miles Standish (Undercity, Phased), and for the Alliance it’ll be from Gregory Tabor (Stormwind).

Now that you have the quest and you’ve learned the Spice Bread Stuffing recipe, you’ll need to make at least 30 of these for the first day, (20 for the daily & 10 for two different non-daily quests).

If your cooking skill is at 1, make as many as it’ll take for you to learn your next recipe: Pumpkin Pie (Cooking 100).

Now you can turn in your Spice Bread Stuffing quest. For the Horde, you’ll turn it in to William Mullins, and for Alliance it’ll be Jasper Moore. These NPCs will give you your next quest: Pumpkin Pie.

But don’t go anywhere yet!

You’ll need to purchase your Ripe Tirisfal Pumpkins from your Undercity bountiful vendor, and Ripe Elwynn Pumpkins from your Stormwind vendor. Honey can be bought off any of the vendors, but you might as well buy that while you’re here, too. You need 1 Pumpkin & 1 Honey for each Pumpkin Pie.

If your cooking skill is already maxed, you’ll need 25 Pumpkin Pies for the day. (20 Daily & 5 Non-Daily)

If your cooking skill is at 100, you’ll need to get to at least 160 for the next quest. If this is the case, I’d recommend sitting at the Stormwind/Undercity area, and making Pumpkin Pie until you hit 160 after you’ve picked up the Pumpkin Pie quest.

NOTE for ALLIANCE PLAYERS: If you already have your Old World cooking skill at 280+, head out to Elwynn Forest and hunt 25 Wild Turkeys now. Cook them up with the Slow-roasted Turkey recipe. It’ll save you the extra trip to Ironforge at the end.

With that done, Horde will need to head to Orgrimmar, and Alliance will head to Ironforge.

Part Two

Once you get to the next city, you’ll turn in your Pumpkin Pie quest and pick up Cranberry Chutney. Horde’s turn in will be with Francis Eaton, and Alliance it will be Edward Winslow.

You also need to make sure you pick up and turn in your Don’t Forget the Stuffing! daily while in these cities. For Horde this will come from Ondani Greatmill, and for Alliance it will be Caitrin Ironkettle.

You can pick up your Can’t Get Enough Turkey quests from these NPCs, too, but we’re not quite to the turkey yet. The exception here is the Alliance players who have already hunted & cooked their turkeys to save a trip.

Once you’ve picked up your Cranberry Chutney quest, find the Pilgrim’s Bounty vendor and purchase your Tangy Southfury/Wetlands Cranberries. You need 1 Tangy Cranberry & 1 Honey for each Chutney.

If your cooking skill is already maxed, you’ll need 30 Cranberry Chutney for the day. (20 Daily & 10 Non-Daily for two quests)

If your cooking skill is at 160, you’ll need to get it to at least 220 for the next quest. So, as before, sit at the vendor and make as many Cranberry Chutney as it takes to get to 220 after you’ve picked up the Cranberry Chutney quest.

With that completed, Horde will be heading to Thunder Bluff, and Alliance will go back to Stormwind.

Part Three

Once you’re in the next capital city, turn in your Cranberry Chutney quest. This is where the next quest somewhat diverges for the factions.

You’ll turn in your quest to Dokin Farplain, and pick up the Candied Sweet Potatoes quest. You’ll need to purchase Mulgore Sweet Potatoes, Honey, & Autumnal Herbs from the Pilgrim’s Bounty Vendor there.

If your cooking skill is maxed, you’ll need to make 25 Candied Sweet Potatoes for the day. (20 Daily & 5 Non-Daily)

If your cooking skill is at 220, you’ll need to get to 280 for the next recipe. So, as before, sit at the vendor and make as many Candied Sweet Potatoes as it takes to get to 280 after you’ve picked up the Candied Sweet Potatoes quest.

Also, don’t forget to pick up and turn in your Easy as Pie daily from the NPC Mahara Goldwheat.

From here, you’ll head to Orgrimmar.

You’ll turn in your quest to Edward Winslow, and pick up the They’re Ravenous in Darnassus quest. This will require 5 Spiced Bread Stuffing and 5 Pumpkin Pie. You should already have these in your bags from cooking earlier.

Don’t forget to pick up and turn in your We’re Out of Cranberry Chutney Again? Daily from the NPC Ellen Moore.

Now, head to Darnassus (Phased).

Part Four

You’ll be heading to Francis Eaton once again, and turning in your Candied Sweet Potatoes quest. You’ll then pick up your quest Undersupplied in the Undercity. This will require 5 Spiced Bread Stuffing and 5 Pumpkin Pie. You should already have these in your bags from earlier, so head over to the Undercity.

Once in Darnassus, you’ll turn in your quest in to Isaac Allerton, and pick up Candied Sweet Potatoes. You’ll need to purchase Teldrassil Sweet Potatoes, Honey, & Autumnal Herbs from the Pilgrim’s Bounty Vendor there.

While here, don’t forget to pick up and turn in your Easy as Pie daily from the NPC Mary Allerton.

Now head back to Stormwind, again.

Part Five

Once in Undercity, there are a few things you need to do:

  • Turn In: Undersupplied in the Undercity
  • Pick Up: Slow-roasted Turkey
  • Pick Up & Turn In: We’re Out of Cranberry Chutney Again? With NPC Roberta Carter
  • Pick Up & Turn In: She Says Potato with NPC William Mullins

And now, we hunt…Turkey.

Head out into Tirisfal Glades. If you look around, you’ll see some Wild Turkeys strutting about. You can try to combine your farm of these delicious fowl with the achievement The Turkinator, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that during peak play hours.

For the cooking, you’ll just need to kill and loot 25 for today, and 20 each day after for the dailies.

Once you have your 25, and your Slow-roasted Turkey quest, cook them up. Then, head back to Orgrimmar.

Once in Stormwind, you’ll need to:

  • Turn In: Candied Sweet Potatoes
  • Pick Up: Slow-roasted Turkey
  • Pick Up & Turn In: She Says Potato with NPC Jasper Moore

And now, we hunt…Turkey.

Head out into Elwynn Forest.

Then, head back to Darnassus.

At this point, both of the factions should have earned the Now We’re Cookin’ achievement—grats!

Part Six

You’ll be turning your final quest in to Francis Eaton. Then, head over to Ondani Greatmill to pick up & turn in the Can’t Get Enough Turkey daily.

For Horde characters, this completes your achievement Pilgrim’s Progress—congrats! You’re free to move on to the other achievements now.

You still have some travelling to do. Your quest Slow-roasted Turkey will be turned in to Isaac Allerton in Darnassus.

Then, you’ll need to head back over to Ironforge to pick up and turn in the Can’t Get Enough Turkey daily if you haven’t already.

Now you’ve completed your achievement Pilgrim’s Promise—congrats! You’re free to move on to the other achievements now.

And then there were four…achievements left.

Terokkar Turkey Time

For this achievement, you need to have a Pilgrim’s Hat, and either a Pilgrim’s Dress, Robe, or Attire.

These items drop from the Pilgrim’s Bounty item received from completing Pilgrim’s Bounty cooking dailies.

Once you have these items, it’s just a matter of going to Sethekk Halls and killing Talon King Ikiss while wearing the above clothing. Remember, it needs to be the hat AND the chest piece.

You need to be at least level 63 (current level scaling) to enter the dungeon on normal.

For those who are well above Outland-level dungeons, head in on heroic mode and you’ll have a chance at the Raven Lord mount. This mount only drops on heroic mode from the boss Anzu.

Pilgrim’s Peril

Once you have a Pilgrim’s Dress, Robe, or Attire, you can head to the capital cities of your opposite faction enemies, and take a seat at their tables.

These items drop from the Pilgrim’s Bounty item received from completing Pilgrim’s Bounty cooking dailies.

For Horde:

  • Darnassus (Phased)
  • The Exodar
  • Ironforge
  • Stormwind

For Alliance:

  • Orgrimmar
  • Silvermoon City
  • Thunder Bluff
  • Undercity (Phased)

All the tables will be ‘outside’ the respective cities.

For Darnassus you have to go through the city to the clear area between the Warrior’s Terrace and the Tradesman’s Terrace.

For the Exodar, you’ll need to take the portal at Rut’theran Village from the western dock.

For Undercity, it’ll be in the Ruins of Lordaeron.

Turkey Lurkey

For this, you need to blast a rogue of each race, except Pandaren and Allied Races, with your Turkey Shooter.

These items drop from the Pilgrim’s Bounty item received from completing Pilgrim’s Bounty cooking dailies. You also have the chance to receive the Silver-Plated Turkey Shooter as a toy, which will not be consumed on use like the Turkey Shooter.

DO NOT shoot a rogue who is already a turkey – it won’t count.

DO NOT shoot a rogue who is in a ‘vehicle’ type mount – it won’t count.

This achievement is obviously easier in expansions where we share a main hub, like Dalaran or Shattrath, and somewhat more difficult during expansions where we’re separate. Your best bet will still be the shared capitals.

The Turkinator

This will probably be the most difficult achievement of the lot. Not because killing turkeys is difficult, but because killing the spaced apart turkeys while everyone else is killing spaced apart turkeys can cause a person to /head desk. There were more than a few occasions where I was thwarted at 38 or 39 killed.

Essentially, you need to kill 40 Wild Turkeys within 30 seconds of each other, and achieve Turkey Triumph. For Horde this will be in Tirisfal Glades, and for the Alliance it will be in Elwynn Forest.

If you look up the achievement on Wowhead, there are plenty of scripts in the comment section you can put in Macros of your Game Menu to help out with this. The one in particular I use is this:

/tar Wild Turkey
/script if (charm == nil) or (charm < 6) then charm=9; end; charm=charm-1; if (charm==6) then SetRaidTarget("target", 0) else SetRaidTarget("target", charm); end

If you have a favorite turkey murdering macro, feel free to post it in the comments!

And that’s everything! If you’ve made it to the end and managed to get all the achievements, you should now be a proud owner of a Plump Turkey and likely a Bush Chicken. Congratulations!

It’s been quite a turbulent week for pet battlers, as news from Kaivax, Community Manager on the forums, told us there were going to be some big changes coming for us! Though it’s debatable on whether players are seeing these changes as good, or not, it was encouraging to see some attention being paid to the pet battle system. In a continuation of this, the new PTR build that went live today brought:

  • A look at the new charity pet
  • Changes to the BRD pet dungeon
  • What looks to be the finalization of pet ability sets
  • A new pet toy

New Charity Pet!

It’s the moment many of us have been waiting for, ever since seeing her large and in-charge at Blizzcon: Dottie!

Don’t be fooled by Dottie’s soft coat and big eyes, her tiny, sharp teeth are for more than just munching on grass.

We should be seeing her released some time in December--just in time for the holiday season. So, treat yourself, and/or a fellow pet battler, to this adorable baby alpaca!

Blackrock Depths Pet Dungeon Changes

The changes to the dungeon are being tracked on the main article here. All the tamer fights have seen at least one stat change to each of their pets, while the single pet fights have seen a reduction in enemy HP.

This should enable strategy creators to make more stable, and less RNG-dependent strategies.

8.3 Pets!

If you include Dottie, we’re looking at 33 new pets in patch 8.3 as of this build. All the pets seem to have their abilities and sources in order, and a few of the stragglers have had their abilities fleshed out, like Anomalus, C’Thuffer, & Reek.

If you’ve missed the other articles, here’s where the pets will drop from, and what they look like:

Stormwind or Orgrimmar

  • Anomalus – Drops from either Alleria's or Thrall’s Corrupted Chest

  • C’Thuffer – Rexxar’s Corrupted Chest
  • Void-Scarred Hare – Umbric’s Corrupted Chest
  • Void-Scarred Pup – Thrall’s Corrupted Chest
  • Void-Scarred Toad – Zekhan’s Corrupted Chest

  • Void-Scarred Cat – Alleria’s Corrupted Chest
  • Void-Scarred Rat – Kelsey’s Corrupted Chest

Vision of the Twisting Sands Creatures

  • Void-Scarred Beetle

This seems to be a drop from various creatures found in the Visions.

Zone: Uldum

  • Aqir Tunneler -- Drop: Skikx’traz (Say that one five times fast)
  • Cursed Dune Watcher -- Drop: Uldum Accord Supplies. This pet is a drop from the paragon chest for the Uldum Accord faction.
  • Rotbreath – Lord Aj’qirai
  • Wicked Lurker – Amalgamation of Flesh

  • Pygmy Camel -- Provisioner Qorra

This pet costs 300 Polished Pet Charms, and requires Revered reputation with the Uldum Accord

Pet Battles

  • Oasis Void-Duster
  • Void-Scarred Locust

Zone: Vale of Eternal Blossoms

  • Corrupted Tentacle -- Drop: Will of N’Zoth
  • Jade Defender -- Rajani Supplies. This pet is a drop from the paragon chest for the Rajani faction.
  • K’uddly -- Drop: The Forgotten

  • Windfeather Chick – Zhang Ku

This pet costs 300 Polished Pet Charms, and requires Exalted reputation with the Rajani.

Pet Battles

  • Golden Chirper
  • Voidglower
  • Voidskimmer

  • Gloop

Corrupted Uldum or Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Unsure at the moment if this will come from the fishing pools, or any body of water within a corrupted zone.

There is a meta achievement called, ‘Reeking of Visions,’ that the pet, Reek, is a reward for.

Reeking of Visions is the meta achievement:

And these are the two achievements you need to complete it:

Ny’alotha, the Waking City

  • Aqir Hivespawn -- Drop: Tek’ris
  • Eye of Corruption -- Drop: N’Zoth the Corruptor
  • Muar -- Drop: Maut
  • Ra’kim -- Drop: Tek’ris along with the Aqir Hivespawn
  • Void-Scarred Anubisath – Drop: Ra-den the Despoiled

Blackrock Depths – New Pet Dungeon Pets

All the pets below will come from the vendor Burt Macklyn, who uses Shadowy Gems as currency.

  • Experiment 13 -- Cost: 3 Shadowy Gems
  • Tiny Claw -- Cost: 2 Shadowy Gems
  • Wailing Lasher -- Cost: 1 Shadowy Gem

New Abilities!

These are the new abilities we’ll be seeing in 8.3, so far:

  • Contagion Strike
  • Jade Barrier
  • Locust Swarm
  • Mega Jolt
  • Overcharge
  • Toxic Fumes
  • Void Crash
  • Void Cyclone
  • Void Nova
  • Void Slap
  • Void Tremors

New Pet Toy!

We’ve also seen a new pet toy show up as purchasable for our toybox.

Pet-wise, things seem to have found their even keel, at least for the time being.

Are there any pets and/or abilities you’re looking forward to trying out in 8.3?

Well, that’s everything for now, so until next time: Happy Battling!

You've battled your way through multiple pet dungeons, against a wide variety of foes, and you've been victorious. However, in the beginning of your journey you couldn't help but notice there was something not quite right with the enemy pets, as though they'd somehow been changed. Then, your suspicions were confirmed in Gnomeregan, as you encountered sinister figures cloaked in shadows. Now you've cornered them in Blackrock Depths, and you'll finally get to see what these fiendish villains have been plotting...and building.

Welcome to a look at the new pet dungeon: Blackrock Depths! This is a 9-stage pet dungeon, and there doesn’t seem to be much walking inside this one. Rejoice!

That said, if you’d like to try your hand at this, you’ll need to download the PTR, and copy your account data and character. After that, find Radek Fuselock (Horde) or Tizzy Gearjolt (Alliance) to pick up the breadcrumb quest: Shadowy Showdown

Once you’ve picked it up, you’ll need to head over to Blackrock Mountain. Blackrock Mountain can be accessed from either Searing Gorge or Burning Steppes. Once inside, find the chain that connects downward toward the lava, and has two doorways.

Take the doorway without the elf, and cut left toward the Grinding Quarry. Once inside, your map changes, and you should be able to see the entrance to Blackrock Depths.

The NPC you’re meeting—Burt Macklin, not Sean Wilkers as the quest indicates—is just before the entrance to the BRD dungeon, and to the left. His text reads:

“My superior investigation techniques have followed these shadowy figures just inside. Another massive case solved, just days before I retire. Checkmate, bad guys.”

When you hand in Shadowy Showdown, he says; “These Shadowy Figures have been an annoyance for too long now. Get in there, and stop them.”

You then need to accept the quest: Shadows of Blackrock. Once you accept, head on in!

Our BRD strategies page can be found here.

The information below is obtained from the PTR, which means it has the potential to change. Information will be updated as new builds come in, and will be finalized once the patch goes live.

Walk your character into the arena area ahead of you.

Stage 2: The First Challenger

Achievements & Rewards

There are two achievements to be had from the BRD pet dungeon ~~ Pet Challenge: Blackrock Depths & The Shadows Revealed.

The Shadows Revealed is the meta achievement for the completion of all the pet dungeons, minus the Celestial Tournament.

The rewards for these achievements will be two toys: Shadowy Disguise & Mayhem Mind Melder.

The Shadowy Disguise is the reward for the BRD Challenge version of the dungeon, and the MMM is the reward for the meta achievement. The disguise will give you the same look as the shadowy figures from Gnomeregan & Stratholme pet dungeons.

Pets for Shadowy Gem Currency

There are three pets available for purchase with this dungeon currency:

  • Wailing Lasher - 1 Shadowy Gem
  • Tiny Claw - 2 Shadowy Gems
  • Experiment 13 - 3 Shadowy Gems

As per usual, there is also a supply crate for purchase with one shadowy gem.

And that’s everything! Best of luck to you all, and happy battling!

Yesterday, the PTR was taken down for a wipe, as well as a new build. And guess what? We finally have access to the new pet dungeon: Blackrock Depths! There were also updates to pets we’d previously seen, as well as some new ones joining the pet journal.

In this post, we’ll be showing you all the pet updates, and once we’ve made it through the pet dungeon, that will be its own post. Let me tell you: the new dungeon is a doozy.

If you’d like to see what all the old pets look like, we have a post here and here to show you.

Anyway, on with the updates!

Stormwind or Orgrimmar

  • Anomalus – Drops from either Alleria's or Thrall’s Corrupted Chest

  • C’Thuffer – Rexxar’s Corrupted Chest
  • Void-Scarred Hare – Umbric’s Corrupted Chest

  • Wicked Lurker – Amalgamation of Flesh

  • Pygmy Camel – Provisioner Qorra

This pet costs 300 Polished Pet Charms, and requires Revered reputation with Uldum Accord

Pet Battles

  • Oasis Void-Duster

“Nobody is sure what sort of powder is coming off of these moths, and everyone is too terrified to find out what it actually is.”

  • Void-Scarred Locust

“Even some of the insects have succumbed to the void. They really do adapt and survive through everything.”

Zone: Vale of Eternal Blossoms

  • Corrupted Tentacle -- Will of N’Zoth
  • Jade Defender – Rajani Supplies

  • Windfeather Chick – Zhang Ku

This pet costs 300 Polished Pet Charms, and requires Exalted reputation with the Rajani.

Pet Battles

  • Golden Chirper

“The golden chirper has managed to stay its pristine self, despite corruption attempts from both the Sha and from the forces of N’Zoth.

  • Voidglower

“Is the void glow in addition to their natural glow, or does it replace it? The world may never know.”

  • Voidskimmer

“These look especially magnificent when gliding over the water under a full moon.”

  • Gloop – Corrupted Uldum or Vale of Eternal Blossoms

There is a meta achievement called, ‘Reeking of Visions,’ that the pet, Reek, is a reward for.

Reeking of Visions is the meta achievement:

And these are the two achievements you need to complete it:

Blackrock Depths – New Pet Dungeon Pets

All the pets below will come from the vendor Burt Macklyn, who uses Shadowy Gems as currency.

  • Experiment 13

Cost: 3 Shadowy Gems

“The name implies that there were 12 experiments done before this one that were less effective than sticking some guns onto a mechanical tiger. What could those have possibly been?”

  • Tiny Claw

Cost: 2 Shadowy Gems

“This bear’s necessities are fresh batteries and an occasional oil change.”

  • Wailing Lasher

Cost: 1 Shadowy Gem

“This lasher does not come from a black lagoon, or from the stars, or from beyond the moon. It just wants you to feed it.”

Well, that's all for now. Keep an eye out for our look into the new pet dungeon, and until next time: Happy Battling!

Carnival music drifts through the air, while children run around, shrieking with glee. Flashes of juggled torchlight illuminate the dirt path in front of the tents, while barkers call to passerby, enticing them to play their games. Above it all, the glowing, orange eye watches on…Always.

“Come one, come all!

The Darkmoon Faire is finally here, and you won’t want to miss this, my dears. We have, among our wondrous delights, pets for you that have some bite. There are some that screech, while others fly, and one whose Howl means doom is nigh. So, battle well and play the games, then all these pets are yours to claim!”

There are 24 pets to be found at the Darkmoon Faire, from a few different sources, so let’s jump right in and get started!

There are four different vendors that sell pets on Darkmoon Island: Lhara, Flik, Carl Goodup, & Galissa Sundew.

  • Lhara

This vendor uses Darkmoon Prize Tickets as their currency. Darkmoon Prize Tickets are awarded for dailies, pvp, quest items, and professions. This comment here by Piraka810 on wowhead gives a breakdown of where you can get the tickets, and maximize your time at the Faire!

When you’re coming down the path from the portal to Darkmoon Island, Lhara can be found on the right, before you get to the Deathmatch Pavilion. She’s a female Orc.

-- Darkmoon Cub

Cost: 90 Tickets

*Breeds: B/B, P/S

**Cageable: Yes

-- Darkmoon Hatchling

Non-Combat Pet

  • Flik

This young male Orc is a moving vendor. He’s small, and can be easy to miss. If you’re coming down from the Darkmoon Island portal, he can be found on the left side, south of the first purple tent, and all the way around the back of the second purple tent. You may want to make a macro to target Flik, to make it a little easier on yourself.

-- Tree Frog

Cost: 1 gold

Cageable: Yes

-- Wood Frog

Cost: 1 gold

Cageable: Yes

  • Carl Goodup

This vendor is a male Gnome, and is also a moving vendor, though he’s easier to find than Flik. You’ll see him pushing his balloon cart up and down the main thoroughfare, from the Deathmatch Pavilion down to the beach.

-- Horse Balloon

Cost: 90

Cageable: No

Non-Combat Pet

-- Murloc Balloon

Cost: 90

Cageable: No

Non-Combat Pet

-- Wolf Balloon

Non-Combat Pet

  • Galissa Sundew

This vendor uses Darkmoon Daggermaw as currency for her pets. Darkmoon Daggermaw can be fished up along the shores of Darkmoon Island, or purchased from your Auction House.

-- Ghostshell Crab

Item: Translucent Shell

Cost: 100 Darkmoon Daggermaw

Cageable: Yes

-- Blorp

Item: Blorp’s Bubble

Cost: 50 Darkmoon Daggermaw

Cageable: No

Daily Pet Battle Pets

There are two daily pet battle tamers on Darkmoon Island: Jeremy Feasel and Christoph VonFeasel. They can be found on the right side not far from the entrance of the Faire, and will cost Darkmoon Game Tokens to fight.
You can find our strategy page for these tamers here.

These two tamers are also required for the achievement An Awfully Big Adventure, which awards the pet Trunks. You can find our strategies for this achievement here.

  • Jeremy Feasel

This tamer awards an item called Darkmoon Pet Supplies, which has a chance to contain:

-- Darkmoon Eye

Cageable: Yes

  • Christoph VonFeasel

This tamer awards an item called Greater Darkmoon Pet Supplies, which has a chance to contain:

-- Syd the Squid

Cageable: Yes

Pet Battles

  • Darkmoon Glowfly

Breeds: B/B, H/S, P/B, H/B

This pet can be found in various locations in the green areas behind the tents, as well as along the gray, mountain area that goes from the north along the right side of the island to the south if you’re looking at the map.

  • Crow

Breeds: B/B, S/S, P/S, P/B

This pet will sometimes appear as a secondary pet in the wild pet battles on the island.

  • Darkmoon Rabbit

Breeds: B/B, S/S, H/S

Cageable: Yes

This pet drops from the Darkmoon Rabbit, which is an elite mob that can be found on the south-eastern beach of the island. It’ll be anywhere from around the cave entrance on south along the beach.

Don’t look for a giant rabbit—it’ll be about normal size. You need to be max level to loot it, and as far as we can tell it can be looted multiple times a day. The respawn is anywhere from 6 and 34 hours, according to comments on wowhead, and the more players you have to take the rabbit on, the better.

  • Moon Moon

Breeds: P/P, S/S, P/S

Cageable: Yes

This pet is a drop off Moonfang, an elite mob. She has the model of a giant white wolf with a patch of moonbeam illuminating her. She can be found in the green area to the northwest of the Faire entrance, just south of the gray mountain ‘curve’.

She can be summoned by killing Moonfang Snarlers (Normal Mobs), which will lead to the spawning of Moonfang Dreadhowls (Elite Mobs), and after enough elites have been killed, Moonfang will spawn.

Moonfang is on about an hour spawn timer, and as far as we can tell is able to be looted multiple times a day. You’ll need to be on a max level character to receive loot, and it’s recommended to be in a group of around 10 players.

  • Hogs

Hogs is a reward from the achievement That’s Whack! To get this achievement you must score 45 points in one session of Whack-a-Gnoll. You’ll probably need a couple of practice sessions if you’ve never done it before, and/or feel free to hop over to YouTube and check out a video beforehand. You'll be running around whacking plush gnolls in barrels. The gnoll that looks like Hogs gives 9 points, and the plainer gnolls give 1. Avoid hitting the babies.

The game area for this will be on the right side, not far from the entrance to the Faire.

  • Race MiniZep

This pet is a reward from the achievement Big Rocketeer: Gold, which is part of a progression of achievements, starting with Rocket Man. It’s a racing game, with specific goals for each achievement / quest. Your best bet here is to watch a couple of videos on the achievements, and try out the track yourself. The quest / starting area is down by the docks. I'd explain further, but it's really one of those things you need to see & do to get a good idea of what to expect.

Profession: Fishing

  • Sea Pony

Cageable: Yes

This pet has 0.5 % chance to be fished up from the Shipwrecked Debris fishing pools, with the average cast number being somewhere between 200-300 casts.

  • Jubling

This little frog will take a bit of traveling to get.

1 – You’ll need to grab some Dark Iron Ale Mugs. This can be purchased from Pluggar Spazzring in the Grim Guzzler in Blackrock Depths, or from your Auction House. The number you’ll need might vary depending on how far away Jubjub is from the NPC Morja, so it’s best to buy between 5-10. Don’t forget, you’ll need at least one more after luring Jubjub to give to Morja!

2 – Find the NPC Morja, who’s at 55.8, 70.6, or if you’re looking at the map, she’ll be behind the second, big purple tent on the right from the entrance of the Faire. You don’t need to interact with her yet.

3 – Look for Jubjub somewhere in the grassy area/forest behind Morja. You’ll need to lure Jubjub over to Morja by placing the Dark Iron Ale Mugs on the ground until you place the last one at Morja’s feet. His ‘range’ for the mugs seems to be roughly ten yards, which is why having more Dark Iron Ale is better than not having enough.

4 – Once Jubjub is lured, Morja will have a quest available called ‘Spawn of Jubjub’. You accept the quest, give her one more Dark Iron Ale Mug, and you’ll get an Unhatched Jubling Egg.

5 – Now it’s just a matter of waiting seven days for the egg to hatch, at which point you’ll receive A Jubling’s Tiny Home. Click on the item, and congrats! You’re now the proud owner of Jubling!

Well, after collecting all those pets it must feel like you deserve a Feat of Strength! The Darkmoon Faire can be quite an undertaking, and we congratulate you on all your pet collecting success during this month’s Faire.

So, until next month: Happy Battling!

* Breeds will only be listed if there’s more than one.
** If pets are listed as cageable, it means you can skip the farming hassle and head over to the Auction House, if you prefer!

Rampage, Liz and Ralf are excellent, well, Rampage easter eggs. - The Charlotte's Web and TMNT themes are also cool. - - Man, can't believe it all wraps up here; but I can't wait to play it!
My Benax was too low on health from a previous battle, so per your subs I used a Swamp Croaker in the 1st slot. Didn't even need to bring out the subbed Mud Jumper in the 3rd slot. THANK YOU!!
