Low XP
Breed
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
RNG
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!

This works with a PP fen crab as well, but in that case you have to adjust your strategy. Benax will come instead of fen crab after the first switch since he has more health than the P/P breed, Then you go Swarm of flies, bubble, water jet, water jet, swarm of flies and then anything since Benax will die. After that the fen crab will be able to pull off a rip, blood in the water combo before it dies. Unless you have been crit then a couple of surges should end the fight.

Barely won on 12/3/19 with HH Emperor Crab, HH Kelp Scuttler and Benax using the above strat.

Seems like if Mar'cuus gets any crits though you'll want to start over. (edited)

Used it 5x no fails.

Mongoose Pup (2,1,2), speed>347. could also be a fast Mongoose.
Mud Jumper (1,2,1)
Hydraling (2,1,1)

1. Mongoose Pup > Screech (pet swapped).
2. Mud Jumper > Swarm of Flies > Bubble > Water Jet X2 > Swarm of Flies > pass.
3. Hydraling > Shell Armor > Call Lightning > pass.
4. Mongoose Pup > Gnaw > Dive (pet dies).
5. Hydraling > Tail Slap > Call Lightning.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-11-15 18:38:34

This works very well, but don't be fooled like I was - Kuitan Mongoose does NOT hit 347+ speed even if it's an S/S breed. It has to be either a plain Mongoose or a Mongoose Pup.

I followed this exact strategy and Marcus survived with 1 HP left, lol. SS mongoose, HB jumper, PB hydraling. Had to get a lucky try to make this work. This should work perfecly if either one of hydra or jumper is XP breed. Ty for the solid strategy.

DavidG wrote on 2018-02-27 00:37:19

Benax is a good replacement for the Mud Jumper. They both have the same power sets, but Mud Jumper only comes in H/B and B/B breeds, while Benax comes in H/P. Therefore it will hit harder.

The strategy on http://www.wowhead.com/npc=128018/marcuus#comments:id=2529061 made by Roeevv is better indeed. Also the strategy put as main here doesn't work with any breed. Both emperor crab and fen crab should have plenty of health. I managed barely only with HH breeds for these two pets.

Olania

This needs to be the top strat. It worked perfectly the first try.

MixMaxter wrote on 2018-03-12 23:00:38

On these fights where top health pet is forced in, people need to be putting what breeds they're using. Several of these strategies I've bumped into now don't mention the breed and its make or break for the fight.

KodeX wrote on 2018-04-09 17:15:33

This almost works... you have to get a crit of atleast +100 though and the enemy cant crit you. To better layout the strat:

Pass > Ghostshell Crab is pulled in > Spirit Spikes > Spirit Claws (what i used) or Grasp > will be switched > Toxic Skin > Corpse Explo > switch to your crab > your crab swill be switched with your frog > bubble > Mudslide > water jet.

If you're super lucky, unlike me, congrats~

The only way this is possible, and I mean the only POSSIBLE way is if at least one of the abilities crits. It doesn't matter which or where, but at least one has to.

DavidG wrote on 2018-02-27 00:27:36

Agreed. I ran this and didn't crit once, and he survived with a sliver of health left. Since there is no RNG at all in the damage any of your abilities do, the only way this can kill him is if you crit one or more times.

Carrotboy

wrote on 2018-01-20 04:04:21

This was frustrating, I had to dig through my list of crabs to find two Guardians. Wound up using a strand crab, fen crab, and mud jumper. My last crab had 10 health left at the end.

Nemy

wrote on 2018-01-11 21:12:41

Worked perfect on 2nd try, with both crabs alive. Both crabs H/H.

Prudentius

ability(Swarm of Flies:232) [ enemy.aura(Swarm of Flies:231).duration < 1 ]

This is the script to match this strat, however I've found the success rate underwhelming.

Blue wrote on 2017-10-12 14:53:05

the top did work, but he pulls the next highest health pet, i had to work it so the fen crabs health was above the Benax at the start or they were out of order. 2 times and done. with right health so they come out in right order

Zeb wrote on 2017-12-18 17:22:33

Need to use an HH breed for the 2nd crab.

PureArmour wrote on 2017-11-03 23:01:27

used HH breed shore crab in place of emperor crab which was only a PP breed.

Lazuli wrote on 2017-09-29 16:42:46

I finally got this by using my Magical Crawdad 2-x-x instead of the crab in the first slot, as it has the extra health to last a bit longer. It got a crit on one of the Surges, and died when Mar'cuus had 10hp left, but my HH Fen Crab finished him off with a Rip and still had about 1/2 health left.

Panoramix wrote on 2017-10-29 11:10:36

Love it, failed miserably on several attempts. Switched to Magical Crawdad and could spew few more surges in. Indeed killed it with 10 hp fen crab

Comanu wrote on 2017-10-20 12:09:33

Voidforge wrote on 2017-09-23 02:42:44

I ended up using Young Mutant Warturtle 1,2,2 Ghostshell Crab 1,2,2 and Bentax 1,2,1.
1. Smoke Bomb.
2. Tornado Punch
3. Water Jet
4. Water Jet - Void Gate Swapped me to Ghostshell
5. Whirlpool
6. Bubble
7. Spirit Claws (whirlpool went off)
8. Spirit Claws
9. Whirlpool
10. Spirit Claws - Void Gate Swapped me to Bentax
11. Bubble (whirlpool went off)
12. Water Jet
13. Water Jet
14. Water Jet
15. Water Jet ( this is where it died for me)
Im assuming if you dont kill it and get another void gate your Young Mutant Turtle should be alive just Tornado punch (or smoke bomb if Mar'cuus is using prowl) and maybe get a few more water jets in hopefully? But this is what worked for me and im going to assume that you can flop Benax and Ghostshell steps around taking the RNG out of the fight. If this doesnt work for anyone i apoligize.

worked great - thanks

THANK YOU!! I did toss in a swarm of flies @ step 12, then continued as written. Worked 2nd try with this strat, very close 1st try. Was getting very frustrated with other team set ups. Thank you again! <3

Mel Lafferty wrote on 2017-10-19 20:24:06

Took me 3 tries but your strat worked the best! Thank you!

Anonymous wrote on 2017-10-15 15:16:46

Emp and Fen crab were both H/H. Didn't have benax leveled so I used mud jumpe B/Br.
My emp crab died after 3 surges, but fen still had 10 hp, which was enough to rip (during prowl) and then blood in the water (higher speed).

Anonymous wrote on 2017-10-09 14:30:41

It took forever, just had to get one lucky try!

Tranmere Fan wrote on 2017-10-04 21:29:35

Strat 1 worked although took 4 attempts as Emperor crab died before the mob, finished it with 10 HP left on Fen Crab.

fuck you wrote on 2017-09-20 06:57:56

shit strategy doesnt work in live

Anonymous wrote on 2017-10-01 21:08:41

Works, but both crabs need to be HH. My green emperor crab H/H worked better then my Blue P/P

Clewara wrote on 2017-09-12 03:05:35

My Fen Crab was P/P, my Emperor Crab was H/H, so my solution was to get around breed-specific strategy by removing that variable and using the power of alts:

Snarly (H/P): 1-1-2 (as Fen Crab, but in Emperor's slot)
Benax (H/P): 1-2-1
Benax (H/P): 1-2-1 (yep, two of 'em)

Snarly, a Fishing pet from BC, duplicates the relevant part of the Fen Crab moveset (Rip, Surge, Blood in the Water) with 1546/305/244 H/P/S instead of the H/H Emperor's 1896/292/211. Each of the Benaxes tanks the portal with bubble, and Snarly cleans up either Fen-style (Rip/Blood for 121 B+325 Aq) or Emperor-style (Surge for 121 Aq always goes first), depending on how much HP Snarly and Mar'cuus have.

This could probably be replicated more elegantly with one Benax and some similar-moved frog; hopefully this is a useful reference on which to write a more consistent and less cheesy strat..

iLLuMNaTi wrote on 2017-09-13 20:29:06

Your strategy worked perfect for me the first time. For me, the strategy posted as Alternative 1 failed twice using a P/P Emperor and failed twice using a H/H Emperor. There is absolutely nothing cheesy about using 2 x Benax ... at least not in my mind. Plus, your strategy involves no breed choices because both pets only come in one breed. That, alone, reduces a lot of RNG. Very nice, thank you!

Anonymous wrote on 2017-09-18 10:30:37

This worked very well, although seemed nervewracking. I finished with two dead and Benax at 11hp. Whew.

Wenchy wrote on 2017-09-19 05:59:27

Anonymous wrote on 2017-09-28 09:28:39

how about a move list? lol

Vàrgas wrote on 2017-09-23 17:49:29

Second Crab must have higher health than Benax.

Hannah wrote on 2017-09-08 01:52:02

FOOLPROOF - NO RNG!

I used Bentax (Water Jet, Mudslide, Bubble), Tideskipper ( x, Body Slam, Geyser) and Gulp Froglet (Water Jet, Mudslide, Swarm).

1. Start with Bentax. Pass.
2. Swapped into Tideskipper. Body Slam > Geyser > killed with Swap
3. Swapped into Gulp Froglet. Mudslide > Swarm (Geyser will hurt after first turn of Swarm, he will be stunned, Swarm will go again). Die to swap.
4. Swapped into Bentax. Mudslide (this hits hard since debuff is still up), you won't need to Bubble here since he should have less than 100 hp left, so just Water Jet for the Kill.

One and Done after trying every strat listed here due to having slightly different pets than what was listed.

TK wrote on 2017-09-09 02:13:06

This is breed dependent, unfortunately. My Tideskipper and Gulp Froglet are both H/P; Froglet has higher health, so he gets swapped in first :(

Emerald wrote on 2017-09-10 09:32:07

Same as TK, my Gulp Froglet (also H/P) gets swapped in before Tideskipper

Anonymous wrote on 2017-09-10 10:37:58

Had the same issue that Gulp got swapped in before Tideskipper, but i just took only gulp to a random pet and abandoned the pet battle to make Gulp have less health and that made it work perfectly for me

TK wrote on 2017-09-12 00:53:01

Hah! I would've never thought of that. Nice workaround!

Camille wrote on 2017-09-14 06:00:12

Worked great, thank you! Thanks also to Anonymous for the solution to Gulp's health being higher than the Tideskipper.

Geki wrote on 2017-09-19 23:21:20

Brilliant workaround Mr. Anonymous Snail of Brilliance. I really wish I'd thought of that with a few other strats that involve that pain in the rump swap gate.

Ryuuken wrote on 2017-09-19 22:19:37

H/H Emperor and Fen, Emperor didn't finish it, but I landed on a turn where Fen could with Rip since Mar used Prowl; it also had double digit health left, haha.

Nef wrote on 2017-09-09 03:15:54

Got him with Benax 1,1,1, Tideskipper 1,2,2 Swamp Croaker 1,2,2
1. Start with Bentax. Pass.
2. Swapped into Tideskipper. Body Slam > Geyser > killed with Swap
3. Swapped to Swamp Croaker. Swarm of Flies>Bubble>Water Jet x4>Swarm of Flies
4. Swapped to Bentax. Bubble>Mudslide>Water jet until he is dead

Anonymous wrote on 2017-09-11 21:54:34

excellent only strat which worked for me first time.

Kamira wrote on 2017-09-18 06:53:47

Requires a B/B Swamp Croaker for this to work

Otherwise Swamp Croaker is pulled in before your Tideskipper
If that's the case do
Bubble -> Swarm of Flies -> 3xWater Jet
Swamp Croaker dies to swap and Tideskipper enters
Body Slam -> Geyser
Tideskipper dies to swap and Benax enters
Bubble -> Mudslide - 4xWater Jet

I did get 1 crit on my Swarm of Flies and 1 crit from my Swamp Croakers Water Jet. Had I not gotten these two crits Mar'cuus woulnd't have died, but it is possible if you have a H/V Swamp Croaker like me.

Yeha finally had to do this fight 4-5 times with other strats THIS worked first time! Not gonna lie thoum I was on edge of seat, woot!

Anonymous wrote on 2017-09-19 04:25:02

No matter where I put my Fen Crab (second or third slot), the frog get swapped in :)

Phoenix wrote on 2017-09-19 14:30:42

Had the same problem, Switched it out with an H/H crab with the same skills and it worked. Needed to have over 1627 HP on the Crab.

kess wrote on 2017-09-19 11:59:20

this worked fine first time for me

Serafene wrote on 2017-09-17 17:19:02

Used snarly, benax, muckbreath. Snarly-surge, Benax- flies, bubble, water jet x3, muck- rip, blood in the water, surge, snarly- blood, surge. Did end up being a little rng

Machista wrote on 2017-09-06 19:04:01

Only way to beat with this comp is having a crit, i'm stil trying

Anonymous wrote on 2017-09-07 00:19:09

Depending on what it is that's going to crit, you need more than one. :(

Machista wrote on 2017-09-07 06:12:04

Try to swap the Emperor Crab to Magical Crawdad.
It worked for me.

Lasaider-Nazgrel wrote on 2017-09-07 16:25:02

Magical Crawdad swap worked for me thanks.

Za wrote on 2017-09-12 09:13:59

Worked for me too, they should change strategy.

Berserage wrote on 2017-09-06 18:22:18

This doesn't work if your Emperor Crab is P/P, Mar'cuus will ALWAYS win with ~50H unless you get a lucky crit. Swap to a crab with higher health.

Sparx wrote on 2017-09-09 23:29:54

This is INCREDIBLY important information and I've got no idea why this was left out of the main strategy. If your Emperor Crab doesn't have enough health, you NEED a critical strike to win.
Swap P/P Emperor Crab for Magical Crawdad or find a breed with higher health.

FlibbitSC wrote on 2017-09-06 12:49:58

This strategy seems to depend on Fen Crab being H/H breed, otherwise Benax gets brought in on turn #2. Tried following the same instructions for each pet in the different order they swapped in (Emp > Ben > Fen >Emp), but couldn't quite win, Mar'cuss was down to about 200hp.

Moenia wrote on 2017-09-06 17:16:31

If you're using Rematch just right click in Blood in the Water and use the "Find Pets With This Ability" option, use the Aquatic filter option at the top and find anything else with an H/H config. Mine was a Frostshell Pincher

FlibbitSC wrote on 2017-09-06 18:32:01

Thank you! - I've been using this for about 18 months and had no idea that feature was there =P I've done manual searches for replacements before but hadn't done so on this strategy. For me, it was a replacing Feb Crab with my H/H Spineclaw Crab *and* then I discovered what Berserage has since mentioned above and had to do it again, replacing Emperor Crab with my H/H Magical Crawdad.

Navett wrote on 2017-09-07 18:10:57

Used HH Magical Crawdad, HH Frostshell Pincher, Benax.

One shot! Thanks

Shashos wrote on 2017-09-06 19:42:32

As FlibbtSC suggested, I used an H/H Fen Crab. Worked very well until the end. Surge alone was not enough and my Fen Crab was forced back in. He only had 10 HP, but I was able to get off a single Rip to finish kitty off.

Rifkin wrote on 2017-09-07 06:57:25

Sounds like the battle I just had :P I used Zangar Crawler and Mud Jumper which have the same abilities above instead. Thought I was done but then Zangar came back in with only 10HP, Mar'cuss next ability was Prowl which let me get in one last RIP... phew

Anony wrote on 2017-09-07 16:08:28

Had the same result and felt lucky to get that rip off to win.

Nuriana wrote on 2017-09-06 15:08:08

Thi strategy only worked with a Fen Crab with H/H - otherwise Benax is forced in instead of the Crab and I could not win the fight.
