The amount the level pet takes is random and from Undead damage. I've seen it go as high as 943 damage before but I used to have it set to 616 and only lost the level pet once (and it had already entered so just got half xp)

Forcing a complete rewrite of the strategy due to the SL patch, this is probably not the most elegant strategy out there. But it has worked flawlessly through 20+ matches, which is something :)

Turn 1 - Mudslide
Benax
Turn 2 - Pump
Repeat Pump until Benax or Stitches are dead then switch back to Pandaren Earth Spirit and do Mudslide again.
Any leveling pet that can survive ~600 damage in the background

Start with Crimson Geode
Round 1: Crystal Overload
Round 2: Stone Rush
Round 3: Crystal Overload
Round 4: Stone Rush
Geode dies; bring in Iron Starlet
Wind-up
Supercharge [Stitches is under 900 health so not really needed, but with Blizzard you never know]
Wind-up for the kill - or really over kill - on Stitches
The Plushie pass here is cute and gave me a sweet smile but I had a 2nd Starlette in the 3rd slot in case Blizzard did something strange.

Unborn Valkyr, Mini Mindslayer (or any pet with Life Exchange ability), Chrominius.
Unborn Val'kyr
Turn 1 - Curse of Doom
Turn 2 - Unholy Ascension
Mini Mindslayer
Turn 3 - Life Exchange
Turn 4 - Switch to Chrominius
Chrominius
Turn 5 - Howl (Stitches Jr. Jr. will use Enrage this turn taking on 50% more damage on top of your 100% from Howl. Curse of Doom will go off at the end of the turn dealing massive damage)
Turn 6 - Finish him off with Surge of Power
It's no 1 pet start, but it's certainly a lot faster with less turns.
I believe any pet with Life Exchange will work for the 2nd pet if you don't have a Mini Mindslayer but the other two pets are pretty much required.

Which just kills Stitches, because 1st two rounds ALWAYS leave him with the same exact number of health.
but... i did it on 8 chars tonight, and two times Surge of Power left him on 200+ hp, and once, even on 400+ hp..
yet Surge of Power doesnt have x-y damage, tooltip says constant number, and there is 0 RNG included, means it should always hit for the same number- 2035= a kill!
It should be 100% efficient, but for me it actually was a kill 8/11 times >.<
I dont understand O_O but in case u will fail to kill him with this tactic, just heal up and redo.
